Lutron Electronics LED Drivers and Ballasts
As one of the world leaders in lighting controls technologies since 1961, Lutron Electronics in Coopersburg, PA provides a sprawling portfolio of residential and commercial lighting controls products.
In their LED Driver and fluorescent ballast division, modern high efficiency lighting products were developed to substantially reduce the cost and maintenance of operating a commercial lighting system.
Sensor Integrated Fluorescent Ballasts
The EcoSystem of fluorescent dimming ballasts contained an impressive array of electronics technologies, from high efficiency / high voltage power electronics to sensitive control inputs to implement intelligent IR remote control or daylight sensors.
The ballasts supported a broad spectrum of fluorescent lamp power levels and form factors, and could be digitally networked together for even more interesting control scenarios at a building or campus level.
LED Driver Development
Higher efficiency and lower cost LED lighting options emerged in the early 2000’s, requiring equally efficient and cost effective power control products for commercial spaces.
The Hi-Lume A-Series LED drivers provided best in class dimming and lighting performance in two available form factors. The electronics were built on a highly flexible architecture which could be configured via firmware to thousands of possible product models, which provided enormous manufacturing and sourcing gains.
Beyond Engineering
During my time with Lutron, I shared a wide array of responsibilities from project management and power electronics development to R&D and regulatory compliance.
While my primary focus was on modern LED driver development for the domestic and international markets, the need for my troubleshooting skills occasionally took me abroad for field support as far as Japan and manufacturing support in Mexico.
By the end of my time with Lutron I was managing an existing product support team which ensured continued quality and resolution of manufacturing issues with post-launch LED Drivers and ballasts.
